THE PROCESS
CONSULTATION
When you come into my studio we will chat, get to know each other a little bit, and discuss your goals for your headshots. We go through your wardrobe options and select the outfits that will look best on camera. I have over 13 years of experience as a headshot photographer so I have developed a keen eye for what outfits work best in front of the lens.
LIGHT TEST
Once we have a plan for your headshots, I run a light test. Every face and body is different, and it only makes sense to light you in a way that makes you look your absolute best. If you follow my work, you will see that I do not have a cookie cutter lighting style. I am extremely specific about my lighting setups to match your face shape, skin tone, and mood we want for your headshots.
COACHING
First I teach you how to look into the lens. If you look at all of my work, you will notice one thing that everyone has in common: they all have presence and relationship in their eyes. Getting my clients connected in the eyes is my expertise as a headshot photographer. Your headshot needs to be a conversation to your potential client. If I am your client and I am looking at your headshot, who are you looking at? Me! If I have never met you and it feels like I know who you are when I look at your photo, your headshot will already be working for you. The eyes are the most important part of any headshot I ever take because it is your eyes that tell your story.
I will teach you how to stand, what to do with your arms, and how to generate organic and natural facial expressions throughout the course of the photoshoot. I will also coach you how to communicate confidence and look approachable.
SHOOT AND REVIEW
We take photos and then we review them together on the computer. I do this for a number of reasons. First and foremost, I think reviewing the images on a 27″ screen is a great learning tool for you to see what you are doing and what you can do better. I work with you to figure out how we can take the photos to the next level. It also gives you an opportunity to know that your results are coming in. We take as much or as little time as we need. I want you to look confident and approachable, so if we get there quickly, great, but it might take you longer, which is totally cool. We go at your pace.
PHOTOSHOOTS CAN BE FUN!
You don’t have your headshots taken everyday, so we might as well have fun when we shoot them! I am very serious about my work and getting great results, but the photoshoot experience is often filled with a lot of laughs. At the end of the day, I really want you to have fun and enjoy the experience. I want you to be able to tell your friends and colleagues that you had an enjoyable and relaxed time with me, all while creating awesome headshots for you!
FINISHED PRODUCT
Once you give me your final image numbers I get to work and retouch them. Retouching is a very important part of the process. My retouching style takes time because I want your photos to look perfect without them looking photoshopped. It is very important that you look like you, but the best version of you.
